Facebook star Rating

Facebook has collected the rating data from users on desktop. Currently it is being tested on small number of users for few selected pages. Allowing users to rate pages is a nice move. It lets users tell their satisfaction with the page.

Facebook began using star rating back in May this year for movies. Now, company is expanding it for pages too.

“We’re extending star ratings on Facebook from mobile to desktop – to make it easier for people to discover great businesses around them. This is beneficial for both businesses and consumers. Star ratings encourage more people to rate a business, making it eligible to appear in News Feed and help others discover a business they didn’t know about previously. For businesses themselves, this also leads to greater brand awareness,” Facebook confirmed in a statement.

It is unclear whether it will be optional or mandatory for Page owners. Facebook can also expand it for posts too by letting users rate a post on Facebook. It will let users know exactly what other users think of their posts.
