Airtel And IRCTC Ties Up for Railway Ticket Booking

Bharti Airtel has tied up with Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for railway ticket booking with Airtel Money. This service is only available in Upper North region of India including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir states.

Airtel And IRCTC Ties Up

Ticket booking through Airtel Money works on all mobile devices without any kind of SMS or data charges. It uses USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) technology. It has an interactive menu options for ticket booking process.

“Our integration with IRCTC for reserved ticketing is a step to empower our customers specifically beyond the urban footprint with the convenience of booking tickets without the need of holding a bank account or an Internet connection,” Airtel CEO — Upper North, Sarang Kanade said in press release.

Users will also be able to check PNR status, search trains, check availability of tickets and ticket cancellation.

IRCTC launched SMS based ticket booking system back in June.
