World’s first email service, Hotmail is no more. Microsoft had acquired Hotmail back in 1996 and launched its webmail service. Microsoft has now relaunch its email service, Hotmail as outlook.com which has similar look as its next generation metro interface and social integration.

Hotmail has been relaunched as outlook.com

The biggest change in this new outlook.com is its look which is inspired by Microsoft’s metro user interface taken from Windows Phone.
It is also integrated with Microsoft’s cloud service Skydrive and comes with office tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote – to open attachments, edit them on the fly and send them back as email.

Microsoft also claims that oultlook.com is the first email service which comes with deep social media integration. It is integrated with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and eventually Skype.

According to company, outlook.com comes with better spam control. Its spam control algorithm is able to differentiate between important emails, newsletters, shipping updates and junk mail.

“Email is private and confidential, and most folks we’ve talked to want to keep it that way. So we keep your personal email personal. We don’t scan your email content or attachments and sell this information to advertisers or any other company, and we don’t show ads in personal conversations,” says Chris Jones, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Windows Live.

I have already upgraded my account and will write all its features in the next post. Till then, you can also sign up for a new account and see what is new in this outlook.com
