For past few months, Google+ users were requesting for the ability of using custom profile URLs or vanity URLs. Because the default profile URL is ugly and hard to remember. Now Google is rolling out vanity URL for thousands of verified profiles.
Few days back, Google had rolled out this new feature to some brand pages and now it is expanding this to more verified profiles. Users who are among those verified lucky people selected will be prompted it via email or they can see it on their profile page.
Google announced, “Today we’re rolling out custom URLs to thousands more verified (and well-known) brands and individuals. If you’re part of this expanded roll out, you’ll be prompted to claim your pre approved URL via email and/or when you visit your profile or page.”
These vanity URLs are not case sensitive and will allow users to have a short, easy to remember name for a profile on Google+.
“Custom URLs are not case-sensitive, so google.com/+Chrome, google.com/+chrome, and google.com/+ChRoMe all point to the same place,” Google explained.
Other users will have to wait for few months to get this feature.
