Opera 12 is now available, brings camera support

Opera has rolled out latest version of desktop browser, Opera 12 for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and FreeBSD. This new version comes with camera support, DO NOT Track privacy and some other performance improvements.

Opera 12 will allow websites to access users’ camera and mic with permission of users. It will no longer depend on third party plugins for camera support. There are many websites which can take advantage of this feature.

Company also boasts to improve security features of this web browser.also makes security settings more visible by utilising colour-coded badges in the Address bar to help review a site’s privacy and security settings. This version also comes with DO NOT Track privacy feature. This feature will allow users to set the websites which they wish to collect browsing data.

Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera shares about this new version, “You spend hours each day in front of a web browser. Shouldn’t those hours be as fun and, occasionally, as productive as possible? We think so, so we made Opera 12 the smartest, fastest and most unique browser available.”

Opera has also tried to improve the stability of the browser by running all the plugins as a separate process. This will allow users to shut down un-responsive plugins without closing the browser.

Opera 12 also promises improved performance, utilising experimental hardware acceleration and WebGL support (the feature is disabled by default).
