Mertado, Online retailer has announced that now company is a part of Groupon.

Groupon has acquired an online social shopping company, Mertado. Mertado used Facebook as its distribution plateform and sells products deals matched to users’ lifestyles, such as housewares, electronics, and food.

Now the website of Mertado is redirecting users to a page saying.

Today, we’re pleased to announce that we are continuing this journey by becoming a part of the Groupon family. Groupon has been a pioneer in social commerce in many ways, and when we started talking with them, it became extremely clear that they shared the same set of values as us.”
Startup also added that it will shut the service down on February 28, 2012 and that existing customers will have customer service access until then.
