Facebook has now updated a new feature which allows Facebook users to subscribe other Facebook users’ update without adding in friend list. This can be seen just like the follow button of twitter or Google+’s “Add to circles”.

You can choose  if you want to see all updates, most updates (the amount you’d normally see), or just the important updates from your existing friends. Sometimes a person does not want to add unknown person on Facebook. In this case, this option will help the other person to get updates of a person who does not want to add him. He will receive only those updates which are public.

Facebook’s Zach Rait explains, “Until now, it hasn’t been easy to choose exactly what you see in your News Feed. Maybe you don’t want to see every time your brother plays a game on Facebook, for example. Or maybe you’d like to see more stories from your best friends, and fewer from your coworkers.”

This new option will allow to see the updates of others without adding him/her to your friend list but it’s up to you to use the feature or not.
