Popular media network, Network18’s Web18 is shutting down India’s popular Internet portal In.com. Web18 is the Internet arm of Network18 network. This step is being taken to cut down the staff strength.

Sources confirmed that few employees of the company have received three months’ severance package and asked not to report for duty from August 26. In.com and CommoditiesControl.com are the websites which will no longer available. But we are not sure about other names.

Web18 is the owner of various websites including In.com, Moneycontrol.com, Tech2.in.com, IBNLive.in.com, ComareIndia.in.com, mtv.in.com, colors.in.com, hindi.in.com, youngturks.in.com, jobstreet.com and many others.

NextBigWhat also reports that IBNLive and Tech2 are the main websites under Web18 network with 60% traffic share. Other websites contributes very small traffic. You can also see the Alexa stats of in.com to know the percentage visit on other subdomains of the website.

Parent company of Web18, Network18 also reported 6.8 Crore loss in June 2013 quarter. So, company decided to reduce the staff to recover the loss.
