The POCO C75 5G has created quite a buzz in the entry-level smartphone segment with its affordable pricing and 5G connectivity. Priced at just ₹8,499, it comes with good specifications for budget-conscious buyers. In this detailed review, I will look deeper at the design, display, performance, camera, battery life, and overall value of POCO C75 5G to help you decide if it’s worth your money.
POCO C75 5G Review
Design and Build Quality
The POCO C75 5G sports a plastic build with flat edges and a unique Marble Flow design on the back, which mimics marble-like patterns. It features a large circular camera module, which gives the impression of a quad-camera setup, but it actually houses only two sensors—of which only one is truly functional.
Weighing 204 grams and measuring 8.22mm in thickness, the phone feels sturdy but is a bit large for comfortable one-handed use. It’s also IP52-rated, which means it’s splash-resistant—a handy feature in this price segment.
Display
The smartphone featrues a 6.88-inch HD+ LCD display. It’s a great display for casual tasks like watching videos, scrolling through social media, or playing games. Viewing angles are also good and overall display experience remains good. The display panel has 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. You can also manually select the refresh rate if you want. However, you can only select from 60Hz or 120Hz. The 450 nits brightness is good enough for outdoor use and you can easily watch videos or read emails.
Performance
POCO C75 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, a mid-range processor designed for entry-level smartphones. With 4GB of RAM (expandable with 4GB virtual RAM), it handles everyday tasks like browsing, social media, and light gaming effortlessly.
For gaming enthusiasts, the phone supports popular titles like BGMI and delivers playable performance at 50fps on medium settings. However, it’s not suitable for heavy gaming or demanding multitasking.
I also ran a few benchmark tests and here are the results.
The phone runs HyperOS, based on Android 14, which feels smooth but comes with pre-installed bloatware and ads in the user interface. While you can uninstall most of the unwanted apps, the ads could be a dealbreaker for some. The UI offers tons of options for customization. You can tweak hoe screen layout, use themes, and can also tweak fonts or icons.
Camera Performance
The POCO C75 5G features a 50MP primary camera, but by default, it captures 8MP photos using pixel-binning technology. For higher-resolution shots, you will need to switch to 50MP mode. The camera app also offers Night Mode for better photos at night.
The primary camera delivers decent photos in proper lighting, with good details and acceptable colors. However, landscape scenery images are always bad with faded colors and no proper details. The camera app also has portrait mode that captures good photos with decent edge detection. The camera struggles in low light, with visible noise and lack of clarity. You also need to keep your hand stable, or you will end up with blurry shots.
Here are a few camera samples.
The phone features a 5MP selfie camera at the front. The selfie camera performs well in good lighting but fails to impress in dim environments. Here are a few selfie shots captured using this phone.
The phone supports 1080p video recording from both front and rear cameras. However, the absence of stabilization makes videos shaky, so you’ll need a steady hand while recording.
Audio and Connectivity
The POCO C75 5G comes with a single bottom-firing speaker, which is loud enough but lacks depth and clarity. On the brighter side, the phone retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, catering to those who prefer wired earphones.
Connectivity-wise, the phone supports 5G Stand-Alone (SA) networks only. This makes it an ideal choice for Jio users, but if you’re on Airtel or Vodafone, you’ll be limited to 4G connectivity since these networks rely on 5G NSA.
Battery Life and Charging
One of the highlights of the POCO C75 5G is its 5160mAh battery, which provides excellent battery life. With moderate usage, you can expect around 30-32 hours of backup. While the phone supports 18W fast charging, the included 10W charger is underwhelming. Charging from 0 to 100% takes around 2.5 hours. For quicker charging, you’ll need to purchase an 18W charger separately.
Verdict
The POCO C75 5G is a budget-friendly smartphone that offers solid performance, good battery life, and decent cameras for the price. The Marble Flow design, large display, and 5G connectivity are its key selling points, especially for Jio users looking for an affordable 5G phone.
However, there are some compromises, including the average camera performance in low light, and ads in the user interface. The lack of a fast charger in the box and limited 5G support may also disappoint a few.
If you are on a tight budget and primarily use Jio’s 5G network, the POCO C75 5G is a good option. But if you can stretch your budget slightly, there are better alternatives with more balanced offerings.
