Energy Sistem Music Box 1+ Review

Energy Sistem Music Box 1+ is a small Bluetooth speaker that can be easily carried in the pocket. Length is half of a smartphone and width is almost the same. If you want to know exact measurements, it measures 7 x 3.2 x 8 cm. It weighs 200 grams. The front side has a speaker vents behind that it has a 40 mm driver capable of offering 5W of power. At the top side, it has 5 different buttons for turning it on, changing the mode, volume up, volume down and play or pause.

The back side houses a micro USB port, microSD card slot and an Aux port. At the center, it has a passive membrane that vibrates to the rhythm of the song and acts as a small subwoofer. At the bottom right side, it has a hole to add lanyard that you get within the box. The base has a rubber layer to give it a grip.

It has a plastic build that feels good. You can easily hold it and it doesn’t easily slip.

SPEAKER

  • Speaker diameter: 40 mm
  • Signal-to-noise ratio: >90 dB
  • Frequency response: 100 Hz ~ 18 KHz

MICROPHONE

  • Sensitivity: -42 dB

FM RADIO

  • Operating frequencies: 87.5
  • 108 MHz
  • Auto-search and radio station storage

BATTERY

  • Capacity: 800 mAh

The sound is not too loud but good for indoor usage. The performance is good but you won’t like it when you are playing tracks with the high use of instruments on the highest volume level due to noticeable sound distortion. But lower the volume a bit to enjoy it at its best. Classical songs will be fine on high volume as well. The bass is good due to the presence of a sub woofer at the back. So, overall the music performance is good considering the price and size of the speaker.

The subwoofer at the back vibrates the speaker that sometimes go wrong. If you place it on the table, it moves due to vibration and you can listen to the vibration of the table as well.

You can control the volume of the speaker using volume control buttons. Long press the volume up button to play the next song and long press the volume down for the previous song. So, you have proper control options.

It offers Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and the range is up to 10 meters in direct line of sight. Along with Bluetooth connectivity, it also offers other modes. It has microSD card slot and aux port. So, you can either put a microSD card full of your favorite tracks or connect your phone with the speaker over Aux cable. You can add a microSD card of up to 128GB storage. Make sure that it only supports MP3 or WAV files and card should be formatted using a FAT/ FAT32 file system.

It also has built-in FM radio. Press the button with three horizontal line to enter into the FM mode and long press this button to scan FM stations. To stop the scanning at a specific station, press the pause button. There is no external antenna, so FM radio clarity depends on your location at the home. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes you will end up listing to just noise.

It offers over 5 hours of battery backup that is good enough considering its size. My usage was mixed with different kinds of tracks on the different sound level. Battery life depends on the kind of songs you listen to and Bass tones will consume more battery. The battery takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes in fully charging.

Final Words

Energy Sistem Music Box 1+ is a good Bluetooth speaker with the portable form factor. If you want a pocket speaker with good sound to enjoy in indoors and multiple connectivity options, this one is good. But you can easily get better speakers with the same or a bit more price. (See: Best Bluetooth Speakers Under Rs. 2000) Energy Sistem’s Music Box B2 (Read Review) also offers a better battery back along with louder and better sound for Rs. 1800.

A few days back, I also posted the review of MI Pocket speaker 2. This one has similar loudness and sound clarity but with slightly better bass and more features.
