Short answer: No, you cannot. There is no way to charge AirPods without a charging case.

Apple’s AirPods is a popular TWS. AirPods come with a charging case to charge buds. But what if you lost your charging case? How can you charge your buds? Apple sells AirPods charging cases that cost huge. So, people generally ask for a way to charge AirPods without the case. If you search on the Internet, you will see several articles providing different ways to charge AirPods without the case. I also read some of those articles and was surprised by the information those articles are providing.

Most articles recommend using narrow Pin charger to charge each bud. Some of the people also made videos about it and recommended people to use narrow Pin charger for charging AirPods when they don’t have a charge case. These cables may charge your buds, but you shouldn’t. You can end up damaging buds. Narrow charging cable requires you to insert the pin directly into each bud for charging. These cables are neither verified, nor tested properly. So, they hardly deliver the right amount the electricity required to charge the bud. So, you will end up damaging your Airpods if you try charging it with narrow Pin charger.

In one of the video on YouTube, the guy was showing how one can charge AirPods using a DIY USB charger. These videos are fake and are made just to get views. People in these videos use fake AirPods in demonstration.

There are also some apps that claim to charge your phone. You can see several videos claiming the same. But these apps are also fake and won’t do anything thing.

What should you do if you have lost AirPods charging case?

Get a new charging case: You can get a new AirPods charging case from Apple’s official website or from Apple Store. Go and get one. You need to know your AirPods model. Serial number will help you in getting the right replacement case.

Borrow from your friend: If you have a friend who also own the AirPods, you can ask him for the charging case to charge your AirPods. Keep in mind that you cannot charge AirPods by using the charging case of AirPods Pro. So, take care of model while borrowing the charging case.

Buy an alternative third-party charging: This method is least recommended but there are some alternative third-party charging cases available in the market. These third-party charging cases are not Apple certified and may not match the safety standard. So, there’s a risk of damaging buds. Get a third-party charging case only if you see one from a trusted brand. When I checked Amazon, I found some third-party charging cases but pricing was slightly lower than the ogirinal charging cases. So, it is better to get the official charging case from Apple.

Wrap Up

As I already said in begging of this article, you cannot charge AirPods without a charging case. You need to get a compatible charging case to charge AirPods. Stop believing YouTube videos that claim to provide alternate ways to charge AirPods. You may end up running your AirPods. So, the best and safest way is to get a charging case replacement from Apple Store.
