YouTube Music adds podcasts in the US

YouTube Music is finally getting Podcasts in the US. US people can now launch the YouTube Music app on Android or iOS for listening to audio or video podcasts without a Premium or Music Premium subscription. It also lets you cast the content to other devices like speaker.

“We’re rolling this out to all our listeners in the United States gradually, so hold tight if you don’t see it yet! This update allows those watching podcasts on the main app to continue listening to them on YouTube Music,” said YouTube.

Users can listen to podcasts on-demand. It also lets you save Podcasts offline or listen to Podcast in background. YouTube has added a Podcasts tab on the Home that takes you to the dedicated feed of Podcasts. Here it will display your favorite podcasts and recommended episodes.

The company has also confirmed that Podcasts will also be available in other regions in the future.

This move will help YouTube compete better with Spotify that recently hit 500 million monthly active users. YouTube Music also has around 80 million Music and Premium subscribers. Podcasts can bring more premium subscribers to the platform.
