Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor for Entry-Level Laptops Launched

Qualcomm has announced the launch of the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 compute platform. It is a mobile processor designed for entry-level laptops. This new SoCpromises to deliver improved performance, LTE, and long battery life.

Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 is an 8nm Soc that contains a Kryo 468 CPU clocked at 2.55 GHz and Snapdragon X15 LTE modem. It supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1/eMMC 5.1 storage. Qualcomm claims that the SoC will deliver 10per cent higher system performance than competitive platforms. It will be used in compact always-connected laptops with a fan-less design.

The 5th Gen AI Engine is capable of over 5 trillion operations per second. So, laptops powered by Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 will offer better call quality via voice recognition, computational photography for clearer video calls, and more.

The SoC also includes Hexagon 692 DSP, Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 5.0, the Spectra 255 ISP, and Qualcomm’s Aqstic audio technologies. Qualcomm also claims that laptops powered by this SoC can offer over 19 hours of battery backup.

Qualcomm confirmed that the mobile platform supports both Windows 10 laptops and Chromebooks. The company has already partnered with Lenovo that will soon launch a laptop powered by Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor.
