OpenAI has quietly rolled out a new tool called ChatGPT Translate. It is a dedicated web page built only for translation. The goal here is not just to convert words from one language to another, but to keep the meaning, tone, and context intact.

People could always use ChatGPT for translation, but this is a dedicated tool for translation. You can access it directly by visiting chatgpt.com/translate. The interface looks familiar and simple. There are two text boxes side by side. You paste or type your text on the left, and the translated output appears on the right. The tool also supports automatic language detection.

ChatGPT Translate promises to handle tone and style well. It also offers quick refinement options below translation boxes. You can adjust how formal or casual the translation sounds.

ChatGPT also goes beyond plain text. You can upload images like menus, signs, or documents and ask the AI to translate them. You can then ask follow-up questions, such as understanding a legal line or checking which food items are vegetarian.

Google Translate still supports over 240 languages as compared to ChatGPT’s roughly 50. But ChatGPT Translate feels more natural when it comes to context, voice, and cultural meaning. It is especially useful for people who want translations that sound human and not robotic.
