Square Enix has released a new update for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC. The update brings major performance improvements for players with supported GPUs. The highlight of this update is the addition of NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation. The feature promises smoother gameplay and higher frame rates.
When the game first launched on PC earlier this year, many players complained about inconsistent performance and frame drops. While several patches have improved the situation, this new update could be the most important one yet. Especially for players using the latest NVIDIA graphics cards.
For those unfamiliar, DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a technology developed by NVIDIA that uses artificial intelligence to improve game performance without sacrificing image quality. It works by rendering frames at a lower resolution and then using AI to upscale them to a higher resolution in real-time. This results in smoother visuals and better performance.

DLSS 4 takes things even further with a feature called Multi Frame Generation. It not only upscales images but also uses AI to generate additional frames between the real ones. This makes animations appear more fluid and reduces stuttering. However, this feature is only available on RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series GPUs.
Along with DLSS 4 support, Square Enix says the update improves overall game stability and includes several bug fixes. While these adjustments will help polish the experience, fans hoping for gameplay changes, like fewer mini-games or shorter sections, will be disappointed. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the next game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, will be more concise in structure but not necessarily shorter in length.
