Meta appears to be expanding its AI ambitions into gaming with the quiet launch of a new app called Pocket. The new app lets users create small interactive apps and games simply by describing what they want using text prompts. It also includes a social feed where users can browse and play creations shared by others.
Interestingly, Meta has not officially announced the app yet. Pocket was first spotted by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, who shared its Google Play listing on X. However, app intelligence firm Appfigures says the app has actually been available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play since June 29, 2026.
Pocket appears to be the result of Meta’s acquisition of the team behind Gizmo, an AI-powered platform that allowed users to create simple interactive experiences using prompts. The original Gizmo app is still available, and Pocket shares many of the same ideas and interface elements, including AI-powered creation tools and a discovery feed for community-made content.
The app describes itself as “a creative platform for making and sharing gizmos.” Instead of building full-scale games, users can quickly generate small playable experiences by simply typing what they want. This makes game creation much more accessible, even for people with no programming knowledge.
The launch also fits into Meta’s broader strategy of bringing AI-powered creative tools to more users. Over the past year, the company has introduced AI image generation through the Meta AI app, AI video creation with its Vibes app, and AI features across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and its video editing app, Edits. Pocket now extends that vision into interactive content.
Although Meta has remained silent about the app, the quiet rollout suggests the company may still be testing the product before making a larger announcement. The lack of marketing or official documentation also indicates that Pocket could still be in an early experimental stage.
The move comes at a time when “vibe coding” is becoming increasingly popular. Instead of writing code manually, users simply describe what they want, and AI generates the application or game. Several startups are already exploring this space, and Meta’s entry could bring the concept to a much larger audience.
Pocket also arrives with an advantage. The Gizmo platform that inspired it had already gained around 635,000 lifetime installs across iOS and Android and reportedly received overwhelmingly positive user feedback. That gives Meta a proven foundation to build on instead of starting from scratch.
While Pocket currently focuses on simple interactive experiences, it could represent something much bigger. If Meta continues investing in AI-powered creation tools, the company may eventually connect Pocket with its social platforms, allowing users to instantly create and share games on Facebook, Instagram, or even in its mixed reality ecosystem.
For now, Pocket looks like another experiment in Meta’s growing AI portfolio. But if the app gains traction, it could become an important step toward making game creation as easy as typing a prompt.
