Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is set to launch on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While the game is still a few days away from release, early sales numbers suggest it could become one of Ubisoft’s biggest launches in recent years.
According to a report by Alinea Analytics, the game has already crossed 300,000 pre-orders on Steam. The report estimates that these sales have generated around $14 million in gross revenue. It also claims that the game has been added to more than 1.2 million wishlists on Steam.
It is important to note that these figures are based on estimates and have not been officially confirmed by Ubisoft.
The reported wishlist numbers indicate strong interest from PC gamers. Alinea Analytics also shared some interesting insights into the audience waiting for the game.
Around 25% of players who wishlisted the game have previously played Sea of Thieve. This shows that pirate-themed games continue to have a dedicated fan base. About 18% have played the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, while 7% have played Windrose.
These numbers suggest that Black Flag Resynced is attracting both returning Assassin’s Creed fans and players who simply enjoy pirate adventures.
Ubisoft has faced several challenges over the past few years, including delayed games, project cancellations, and weaker-than-expected financial results. Because of this, the success of Black Flag Resynced could become more important than just another game launch.
The original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, released in 2013, is still considered one of the best games in the franchise. Its naval battles, open-world exploration, memorable characters, and pirate setting made it a fan favorite. Many players have been asking Ubisoft to bring the game back for modern platforms for years.
If the remake delivers on expectations, it could help rebuild confidence in Ubisoft’s ability to revive its classic franchises.
Unlike a simple remaster, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reportedly includes several improvements beyond upgraded graphics. The game features rebuilt environments, improved lighting, ray tracing support, smoother animations, enhanced combat, updated stealth mechanics, better parkour movement, and several quality-of-life improvements. Ubisoft has also modernized the overall gameplay while keeping the original story and pirate adventure intact.
These changes are expected to make the game feel fresh for new players while preserving the experience that longtime fans remember.
Although crossing 300,000 Steam pre-orders is an impressive milestone, it represents only a portion of the game’s potential sales.
Assassin’s Creed has traditionally performed very well on consoles, especially PlayStation. The reported figures do not include pre-orders from PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Ubisoft Connect. This means the actual number of copies sold before launch could already be significantly higher.
The game’s 1.2 million Steam wishlists are also a positive sign. While not every wishlist converts into a purchase, high wishlist numbers often indicate strong launch-day demand.
