vivo has officially launched the flagship vivo X300 Ultra in India. The smartphone marks the Indian debut of the Vivo’s Ultra-branded X Series device, and vivo is clearly positioning it as a professional-grade camera smartphone rather than just another premium flagship.

The phone starts at Rs. 1,59,999 and directly targets users who care deeply about smartphone photography and videography. The company has once again partnered with ZEISS to build an advanced imaging system that combines premium camera hardware, optical engineering, computational photography, and dedicated imaging processing.

The smartphone features a massive 6.82-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 3168 × 1440 pixels. The display supports a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Ultra XDR, and up to 2160Hz PWM dimming. vivo says the ZEISS Master Color Display is tuned for accurate color reproduction. This makes it useful as a viewfinder while shooting photos and videos.

The display is also protected by Armor Glass.

The vivo X300 Ultra is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset built on a 3nm process. The phone also includes vivo’s dedicated VS1+ imaging chip to handle complex image processing workloads. The device packs 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra Pro Quad-Channel RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.

To manage thermals during gaming and intensive video recording, vivo has added a large vapor chamber liquid cooling system.

Vivo X300 Ultra kit

The vivo X300 Ultra comes with a triple-camera setup built around three important focal lengths: 14mm ultra-wide, 35mm documentary, and 85mm telephoto. Unlike many smartphones where secondary cameras feel less capable, vivo says every camera here is designed to deliver flagship-level image quality.

The camera setup includes large sensors, ZEISS optics, advanced stabilization systems, and dedicated image processing support from vivo’s proprietary VS1+ imaging chip.

The main camera is a 200MP Sony LYTIA 901 sensor with a large 1/1.12-inch sensor size. vivo calls it a “Documentary Camera” because the 35mm focal length is widely preferred by street photographers and content creators for natural-looking perspective.

The camera also supports 12-bit HDR and CIPA 6.5 stabilization. Since 35mm sits between wide and telephoto perspectives, it is often considered ideal for storytelling, portraits, and travel photography.

The ultra-wide camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 818 sensor with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor size. vivo has also included 1.95° Optical Image Stabilization and CIPA 6.0 stabilization support for better low-light photography and stable videos. The ultra-wide sensor also supports 4K video recording at 120fps, which is something usually reserved for primary cameras on most smartphones.

The device also has 85mm APO telephoto camera. It uses a large 1/1.4-inch 200MP sensor along with ZEISS APO-certified optics.

APO optics are designed to reduce chromatic aberration, which helps produce cleaner edges and more accurate colors in zoom shots. vivo has also added a gimbal-like 3° OIS system with CIPA 7.0 stabilization.

The telephoto camera supports 3.7x optical zoom and telephoto macro photography. Based on the specifications, this could become one of the most powerful zoom camera systems currently available on a smartphone in India.

The phone also includes AF Tracking Snapshot Mode running at 60fps, which allows the camera system to continuously track moving subjects like wildlife, sports players, or pets.

vivo is not limiting the X300 Ultra to photography. The company has added several advanced video features that will appeal to mobile filmmakers and creators.

The smartphone supports multi-focal 4K 120fps 10-bit Log video recording, Dolby Vision recording, 4K slow motion, and 4K time-lapse. Users can also switch between ultra-wide and telephoto focal lengths while retaining key video features.

There is also a new Pro Video Mode offering manual controls for exposure, focus, and tone adjustments.

For audio recording, vivo has included a Quad-Mic Audio Recording System with intelligent noise reduction presets. This should help creators capture cleaner voice recordings while shooting outdoors or in crowded environments.

It also has vivo’s new Color Science system. The phone includes a dedicated 5MP multi-spectral sensor with 12 color channels that analyzes ambient light conditions.

Combined with ZEISS T* coating and Super Blue Glass technology, the system aims to reduce lens flare and improve color accuracy.

This is important because smartphone cameras often struggle with inconsistent colors under mixed lighting conditions. vivo appears to be focusing heavily on natural color reproduction here.

The device has 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11 be, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS: L1+L5, Beidou: B1C+B1I+B2a+B2b, GLONASS: G1, Galileo: E1+E5a+E5b, QZSS: L1+L5, NavIC: L5, USB Type-C 3.2 Gen1, and NFC connectivity options. It also includes an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor.

The vivo X300 Ultra packs a huge 6600mAh battery, which is unusually large for an ultra-premium flagship smartphone. The phone supports 90W wired FlashCharge, 40W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging support.

Optional photography accessories make it unique

One thing that separates the X300 Ultra from most flagship smartphones is the optional photography ecosystem.

Vivo X300 Ultra kit

vivo has introduced two ZEISS Telephoto Extenders:

  • 400mm Equivalent Gen 2 Ultra (4.7x)
  • 200mm Equivalent Gen 2 (2.35x)

These accessories are designed for long-range photography and could appeal to wildlife, sports, and travel photographers.

The company has also launched a dedicated Imaging Grip Kit with a built-in 2300mAh battery. The grip should improve handling while shooting photos or videos for extended periods.

This approach makes the X300 Ultra feel much closer to a compact mirrorless camera setup than a traditional smartphone.
