Nintendo has officially announced price increases for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, existing Nintendo Switch models, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships across multiple regions. The company says the decision comes due to changing market conditions and long-term business considerations.

The biggest change is for the Nintendo Switch 2. In the United States, the console price will increase from $449.99 to $499.99. In Canada, the price is going up from CAD 629.99 to CAD 679.99, while European pricing will increase from €469.99 to €499.99.

In Japan, the Nintendo Switch 2 Japanese-language system will see a significant jump from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 starting May 25, 2026. However, Nintendo confirmed that the multi-language version sold through My Nintendo Store will keep its current pricing.

Nintendo is also increasing prices for the current Switch lineup in Japan. The Nintendo Switch OLED Model will move from ¥37,980 to ¥47,980. The standard Nintendo Switch will increase from ¥32,978 to ¥43,980, while the Nintendo Switch Lite will jump from ¥21,978 to ¥29,980.

Nintendo has only confirmed revised pricing for the original Switch lineup in Japan. The company has not yet announced updated prices for the Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, or Switch Lite in the United States, Canada, or Europe.

The price revisions for the United States, Canada, and Europe will come into effect on September 1, 2026.

Alongside hardware, Nintendo is also raising prices for Nintendo Switch Online memberships in Japan starting July 1, 2026. The 12-month Individual Membership will increase from ¥2,400 to ¥3,000, while the Family Membership will move from ¥4,500 to ¥5,800. Prices for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack memberships are also increasing.

This move does not come as a complete surprise. Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment also increased prices of the PlayStation 5 in several markets due to inflation and changing economic conditions. Since then, investors and shareholders have reportedly been putting pressure on Nintendo’s board to revise hardware pricing as well, especially with rising production and supply chain costs affecting the gaming industry globally.

Even after the price increase, Nintendo is expected to see strong demand for the Switch 2 because of the massive popularity of the original Switch platform and the growing excitement around Nintendo’s next-generation games and hardware ecosystem.
