Overwatch has officially arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 with a dedicated version that brings major improvements in performance and visuals. This is one of the most important updates for Nintendo players, as the earlier version of the game had clear hardware limitations
Overwatch is already available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.
The new version of Overwatch for Nintendo Switch 2 is designed to take advantage of the improved hardware. Players can expect up to 60 FPS gameplay in both docked and handheld modes, better visual quality with improved clarity, and enhanced audio for a more immersive experience. This is a big jump from the previous generation, where performance was often limited. The smoother frame rate should make a noticeable difference, especially in fast-paced matches.
Alongside the Switch 2 launch, Blizzard has rolled out Season 2 content for the game. The update brings a new damage hero named Sierra. She comes with a unique rifle that becomes more accurate over time and abilities like a grappling drone and a shockwave bomb. Her ultimate ability deploys a carpet-bombing drone attack.
Sierra also has connections with Soldier: 76 and Reaper, which adds more depth to the game’s story.
The update also introduces the Grand Mesa event, which includes challenges and rewards along with story elements.
Blizzard has also reworked the Antarctic Peninsula map to improve gameplay flow. The changes focus on better team fights, smoother pushes, and improved flank routes.
Season 2 also includes several other updates. Here’s a list:
- Return of post-match accolades with 3D character highlights
- Updates to Stadium mode, including Ramattra and a new map
- Balance changes for multiple heroes
- New mythic skins for Soldier: 76 and Genji
- A Sakura-themed cosmetic collection and collaboration with Le Sserafim
