Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to reorder photos and videos inside carousel posts even after they are published. This was one of the most requested features by creators and regular users. Thankfully, now it is rolling out globally.

Until now, once a carousel was posted, its order was fixed. If someone wanted to change the sequence, they had to delete the entire post and upload it again. This often meant losing likes, comments, and overall engagement.

With the new update, users can simply edit the post, long-press on any photo or video, and drag it to a new position. The changes can be saved without affecting existing engagement on the post.

Instagram says this feature gives more creative control. Users can now adjust how their content appears even after publishing. This is especially useful for creators who want to improve storytelling or change the first image that appears on their profile grid.

However, there are still some limitations. Users cannot add new photos or videos to an existing carousel. To include additional content, they will still need to create a new post.

Over the past few years, the platform has made several changes to improve engagement and flexibility. Carousel posts themselves have been expanded to support more images and mixed formats like vertical and horizontal content. These posts are also known to generate higher engagement compared to single-image posts.

At the same time, Instagram has been constantly evolving its platform with algorithm changes, suggested posts, and new content formats to keep users engaged.

This update is a welcome move and solves a real problem. If you actively use Instagram and publish Carousel Posts, don’t forget to try it.
