Crimson Desert is already engaging gamers, and the latest update made it even better. After the recent update, the game reached a new peak of 276,215 concurrent players on Steam during its second weekend, showing strong momentum even after the initial launch hype. This data was recorded by Techlmedia Gaming’s Steam chart, where we keep track of video games.

This growth comes after update 1.01.00, a patch that does not just fix bugs but actually improves the core gameplay experience in meaningful ways.

The game already had a solid start with close to 200,000 concurrent players. Usually, numbers drop after the first few days, but here the opposite is happening. More players are joining, and existing players are sticking around. That is a strong sign that the developers are listening and reacting fast.

The update itself brings several important changes. The most talked-about addition is summonable mounts. This was one of the biggest complaints from players, and now it is finally addressed with five new mounts, including some rare legendary creatures. It instantly makes exploration smoother and more enjoyable.

But the improvements go much deeper than that. Fast travel and respawn loading times are now shorter, controls feel tighter, and small quality-of-life changes are everywhere. Something as simple as showing an interaction button on locked doors may sound minor, but it removes unnecessary frustration. These small changes add up and make the overall experience feel polished.

There are also subtle fixes that show the developer is paying attention. For example, changes to visual assets hint at the removal or improvement of previously criticized AI-generated art. Even gameplay mechanics like crime have been tweaked, making stealth and stealing feel more logical and less punishing.

Another reason behind the growing popularity is visibility. The game is performing well on streaming platforms like Twitch, where it usually gets around 30,000 daily viewers. Techlomedia Gaming also keeps track of Twitch stats were the game recorded 496,244 concurrent viewers at its peak, and even at the time of writing, 1,668 channels were streaming the game. That kind of exposure keeps bringing in new players even after launch.

According to Techlomedia Gaming’s Steam Charts, the game is currently among the top three most-played titles on Steam, sitting behind Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. That is impressive for a new IP.

Pearl Abyss has reportedly sold around 3 million copies already and is on track to reach 5 million soon. Considering the game took around seven years to develop with a budget of about $133 million, this early success is important.

However, it is not all perfect. Even the CEO, Heo Jin-young, admitted that the story has received criticism. The team focused more on gameplay improvements, which clearly paid off, but narrative depth seems to be an area where the game could have done better.

Interestingly, there are no confirmed plans for DLC yet, and mod support is not coming anytime soon. Still, a version for the next Nintendo console is being explored, which could further expand the player base.
