Do you still remember iBall? Once a familiar name in the Indian technology market, the brand had a strong presence in the early 2000s. Founded in 2001, iBall was among the early players in the premium accessories and peripherals space. However, as Chinese brands entered India with aggressive pricing and heavy marketing, iBall slowly lost ground. Its attempts to revive itself in the tablet and laptop segments between 2018 and 2020 also failed to make an impact, largely due to limited innovation and weak differentiation.
Now, iBall is getting a second chance.
Zebronics, a well-known Indian brand in the IT and lifestyle electronics segment, has officially announced the acquisition of iBall. This move signals a planned return of iBall under the backing of Zebronics’ established ecosystem. Now that iBall isn’t active, the only reason to acquire iball could be its brand.
Zebronics has built its reputation across a wide range of products, including IT peripherals, gaming accessories, audio devices, and lifestyle gadgets. By bringing iBall under its umbrella, the company plans to revive the legacy brand using its existing infrastructure, distribution strength, and manufacturing capabilities. The acquisition is being positioned as the start of a new chapter rather than just a change in ownership.
iBall’s journey has been closely tied to the growth of India’s consumer electronics market. In its early years, the brand earned recognition for its design-focused products and premium positioning. Over time, however, the fast-changing market and lack of consistent innovation pushed it out of the spotlight. With this acquisition, Zebronics aims to retain iBall’s original philosophy of “Designed for Excellence” while reshaping the brand to meet current consumer expectations.
According to the announcement, iBall will be integrated into Zebronics’ operational framework. This includes access to a stronger distribution network, scalable manufacturing facilities, and an established after-sales service system. The idea is to remove the operational limitations that previously held iBall back and allow it to compete more effectively in today’s crowded market.
The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. For now, the focus remains on operational integration and planning the roadmap for iBall’s future products. More clarity is expected once Zebronics outlines its launch strategy for the revived brand.
