Proton has introduced a new tool for people who want more privacy in their everyday work. The company has launched Proton Sheets, a spreadsheet service that focuses on end-to-end encryption. It aims to give users a safer option compared to Excel and Google Sheets.

Many businesses depend heavily on spreadsheets, and these files often contain sensitive information. Proton says the world needs a secure alternative that protects users from tracking, surveillance, and even AI training. The company points out that Google’s own support documents warn users not to store confidential data in Google Sheets, as it could be accessed by human reviewers or used to train Gemini.

Proton Sheets looks familiar to anyone who has used a spreadsheet tool before. It supports formulas, charts, data analysis, and real-time collaboration. The difference is that everything is encrypted by default, and Proton says only the user can access the actual data. It also supports XLS and CSV files, so people can import their existing documents and secure them instantly.

The service is free to use through a Proton Drive account. With this release, Proton now offers a wider set of privacy-friendly tools, including Mail, Drive, Docs, and now Sheets. It is another step toward giving users a complete workspace without relying on major tech companies like Google or Microsoft.
