Google has released its official Year in Search 2025 report, and this year’s list of the most searched games shows how strong the gaming industry has been. It also highlights a big win for Sweden, with four of the top ten games coming from Swedish studios. Even more impressive, the top two entries are also from Sweden. This shows the country’s growing influence in global game development.
According to Google Trends, these were the most Googled games of 2025:
- Arc Raiders
- Battlefield 6
- Strands
- Split Fiction
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Path of Exile 2
- Grand Theft Auto VI
- Pokémon Legends Z-A
- Minecraft
- Roblox
ARC Raiders leads the year in a strong way. Since its October 30 launch, it has sold over 4 million copies worldwide and also reached 700,000 peak concurrent players across all platforms and 2.5 million in the first week. That’s an incredible number for a new IP. Even on just Steam, it set a high-water mark of over 460,000 simultaneous players.
Battlefield 6 is another trending game that shattered records for its franchise. It sold over 7 million copies in its first three days and also recorded a peak of ~747,440 concurrent players on launch day. This was the highest ever for any Battlefield title on PC. Even now, months later, the player base remains strong.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 grabbed more than just searches. By late May 2025, it had crossed 3.3 million copies sold across platforms. This number excludes Game Pass downloads. With a Metacritic score of 92/100, it sits among the highest-rated games of the year. It is also the biggest new Game Pass third-party release of the year.
What is interesting is that Grand Theft Auto VI. With all the hype, leaks, discussions, and multiple delays, it only reached seventh place. Normally, a Rockstar game dominates search charts long before launch. The game has been delayed until November 2026.
Meanwhile, games like Minecraft and Roblox continue their unbelievable consistency. Even after more than a decade, both titles still remain among the most searched games worldwide. It shows how massive their global communities remain.
2025’s top search list shows that the gaming community is not bound by genre or budget. People are searching for shooters, RPGs, sandbox games, indie titles, and even upcoming titles. This variety suggests a healthy shift away from a “blockbuster only” focus. New IPs like ARC Raiders and story-rich games like Clair Obscur are getting attention alongside major franchises. This is good news for smaller studios and for gamers like us who enjoy discovering hidden gems rather than just following hype.

Battlefield 6 is a reminder that big studios still have power. With a massive launch and strong early performance, it delivered what many expect from AAA titles.
What these trends collectively show is this: the gaming audience has become more varied. Some players want competitive shooters with explosive launches. Others want thoughtful RPGs, beautiful worlds, or co-op multiplayer tension. And thanks to Game Pass, indie hits, and cross-platform options, people have more choices than ever.
