Fans will have to wait a bit longer to return to Vice City. Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto VI is now scheduled to release on November 19, 2026. The game was earlier delayed from 2025 to May 26, 2026, so this is the second delay.
Rockstar apologized for the wait, saying the extra months will help them finish the game with the level of polish fans expect. The new launch date pushes the game back by six months from the previous schedule.
Take-Two, the publisher of GTA VI, seems confident about the delay. CEO Strauss Zelnick said that if a game needs more time to reach its best version, it is better to wait. He added that the release still falls in the same fiscal year and is a good window for launch.
The success of GTA V and GTA Online gives Take-Two confidence. GTA V originally came out in 2013 and has been re-released on multiple consoles. It has sold over 220 million copies. GTA Online continues to grow, with membership in GTA+ increasing 20% year-over-year.
Fans are excited for GTA VI. Rockstar promises a detailed open world, a return to modern-day Vice City, and new gameplay features. The extra wait is meant to deliver the best possible experience.
