Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have officially delayed Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The game, which was earlier expected to arrive in 2025, will now be released sometime in 2026.
According to FromSoftware, the delay was necessary to allow more time for performance optimization. The studio said it wants to ensure that the game runs smoothly on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware before release.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is the special version of the award-winning action RPG, which will bring the complete Elden Ring experience, including the massive Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, for Switch 2 players. Given the scale and technical demands of the open-world game, performance tuning on portable hardware likely plays a big part in the decision.
While the news may disappoint fans hoping to explore the Lands Between on the go, the delay suggests that FromSoftware is prioritizing quality over deadlines
