Apple Launches the New iPad Pro with M5 Chip

Apple has officially launched the new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip, and it is one of the biggest performance jumps the iPad has ever seen. It comes with faster AI processing, improved graphics, and superfast wireless connectivity.

Apple has made the new iPad Pro thinner and sleeker than ever. It is just 5.3 mm for the 11-inch model and 5.1 mm for the 13-inch. It is available in space black and silver. The device features the Ultra Retina XDR display with advanced tandem OLED technology. The screen offers 1600 nits peak brightness, perfect for HDR content, and supports ProMotion and True Tone. There is also a nano-texture glass option for professionals who work in bright environments and want reduced glare without losing color accuracy.

The new iPad can even drive external displays at up to 120Hz, making it ideal for gaming or professional video editing setups.

It packs the M5 chip, which delivers a major upgrade in speed and intelligence. It features a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in every core, which gives it up to 3.5x faster AI performance than the M4 model and 5.6x faster than the M1 iPad Pro.

This means AI-driven tasks like image generation in apps such as Draw Things and smart video masking in DaVinci Resolve now run much faster. The 16-core Neural Engine also makes Apple’s new AI features, including Apple Intelligence tools and the Image Playground.

The new iPad Pro is not just about AI. It also brings major upgrades to graphics and processing power. The M5 includes a 10-core CPU with the world’s fastest performance cores and a third-generation ray-tracing engine for realistic lighting and reflections in games and 3D apps.

Apple claims the new iPad Pro delivers:

  • Up to 6.7x faster 3D rendering compared to the M1 iPad Pro.
  • Up to 6x faster video transcode in Final Cut Pro.
  • Up to 4x faster AI image generation in Draw Things.
  • Up to 3.7x faster AI video upscaling in DaVinci Resolve.

These gains make it a dream device for designers, video editors, and architects who rely on power and precision.

The iPad Pro with M5 also improves multitasking and speed. It now has over 150GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, which is almost 30% faster than before, and up to 2x faster storage read and write speeds. Models with 256GB and 512GB storage now start with 12GB of unified memory, giving users more space for demanding apps.

On the connectivity front, Apple has added two new chips: C1X and N1.

  • The C1X modem brings up to 50% faster cellular data speeds and better battery efficiency.
  • The N1 wireless chip adds support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, ensuring faster and more reliable connections everywhere.

The iPad Pro runs on iPadOS 26, which adds a redesigned interface, better multitasking, and smarter AI features. A new windowing system lets users manage apps like on a desktop, while the new menu bar offers quicker access to app commands.

The Files app is now more powerful, with new folder options and default app settings. The Preview app finally comes to iPad, letting users view and edit PDFs using Apple Pencil.

With Apple Intelligence, users get new on-device AI tools such as live translations in FaceTime, smarter Shortcuts, and improved reminders.

Apple has also refreshed its accessories lineup. The new Magic Keyboard now has an aluminum palm rest and function keys. The Apple Pencil Pro adds advanced sensors for precise drawing, while the Smart Folio offers multiple viewing angles.

The new iPad Pro with M5 is available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, in space black and silver. Pre-orders are open now, and it will be available in stores from October 22.
