Escape from Tarkov is Finally Coming to Steam After Years of Waiting

Escape from Tarkov, one of the most talked-about hardcore shooters in recent years, is finally making its way to Steam. Battlestate Games head Nikita Buyanov confirmed on X that the Steam page will go live soon. The game will officially launch its 1.0 version on November 15, 2025.

Until now, Escape from Tarkov has been available only through Battlestate’s own launcher since its beta release back in 2017. While the game has built a loyal fan base, players have long complained about issues with the launcher, ranging from crashes to unstable updates. Moving to Steam is expected to make the game more accessible and hopefully improve the overall experience.

However, this shift also brings some important questions. Will existing players be able to link their accounts, or will they need to repurchase the game on Steam? How will Battlestate tackle the long-standing cheating problem that has frustrated many in the community? These are concerns that fans will expect clear answers to in the coming weeks.

This year has already been controversial for the studio. The launch of the $250 Unheard Edition, which included exclusive access to a PvE mode, sparked outrage. Many players who had already purchased the premium Edge of Darkness edition felt cheated, as it was marketed with “all future DLCs” included. After heavy backlash, the studio announced that Edge of Darkness owners would also gain access to the PvE mode.

After eight years of beta, Escape from Tarkov finally stepping into a full release is a major milestone. The Steam launch could bring a new wave of players, but it also puts Battlestate under pressure to deliver a fair and polished experience. Fans have waited a long time for this moment, and expectations are higher than ever.
