Amazon Music Launches AI-Powered Weekly Playlists for Personalized Listening

Amazon Music has rolled out a new feature that brings AI-powered weekly playlists to listeners. These playlists are designed based on your “preferences and mood.” In simple terms, the app looks at what you already listen to and suggests similar tracks. It does not actually detect your mood—everything is based on your listening history.

The playlists mix familiar favorites from your most-played artists with new songs that match your tastes. Amazon has given them fun names like “Empowerment Anthems” and “Melodic Flex,” making it easy to guess the vibe of each playlist. You can save them to your library or share them with friends via text or social media.

Ryan Redington, General Manager of Amazon Music, explained that the feature is another way to help fans “connect with more music that resonates with them.” He added that it allows the platform to “create personalized playlists celebrating favorite artists while introducing new music.” While personalized playlists are nothing new, Amazon highlights that these are powered by their Bedrock generative AI platform.

Currently, these weekly playlists are available only in the US and drop every Monday. To access them, you need to update to the latest version of the Amazon Music app.

This is the latest move in a growing trend of AI in music streaming. Spotify recently introduced prompt-driven playlists and an AI DJ that responds to requests. Amazon Music itself already uses AI to improve search results and help create playlists. These weekly AI playlists show how streaming platforms are increasingly using technology to make music discovery more personal.
