GSC Game World has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will launch for PlayStation 5 on November 20. Digital pre-orders are now live on the PlayStation Store.
The game was first released for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on November 20, 2024. It is also available on Game Pass. At launch, the game sold over one million copies within two days, and by March 2025, it had reached more than six million players.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone after a second explosion in 2006. The Zone is filled with mutants, anomalies, and rival factions. At its center lies a power that attracts fortune seekers known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, each risking everything to survive or uncover the truth hidden in the Heart of Chornobyl.
Players take on the role of a lone stalker in a seamless open world covering 64 square kilometers. The game features a non-linear story with branching paths and multiple endings.
There are over 30 weapons with hundreds of possible modifications. Players can engage in firefights with different factions and enemies that use unique tactics. The Zone is also home to mutants with unpredictable behaviors, including dangerous lairs where groups hunt together.
The most valuable artifacts are hidden in the most dangerous areas, protected by anomalies and devastating arch-anomalies. Exploration and survival are key as players face hunger, bleeding, radiation, and harsh weather.
The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 with advanced AI, realistic day-night cycles, and photorealistic graphics. It also includes mod support and will receive a free multiplayer update after release.
With the PS5 launch, GSC Game World continues to expand the reach of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, following a long development journey marked by delays and challenges, including the war in Ukraine.
