Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold7 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in New York. The new foldable phone brings several improvements in design, display, camera, and AI features.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 comes with a larger 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display, which is now 11% bigger than the previous model. It supports up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+, and can hit 2600 nits peak brightness. Samsung has also replaced the under-display camera with a standard 10MP inner camera for better image clarity.

The outer screen is now a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel, also with 120Hz refresh rate and a taller 21:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for better durability.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, replacing last year’s Gen 3 version. This powerful 3nm processor is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.

For the first time in the Fold series, Samsung has added a 200MP main rear camera with OIS and Dual Pixel AF. It is supported by a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom and 30X space zoom.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is thinner and lighter than before. It weighs just 215 grams, which is even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. When folded, it is 8.9mm thick, and only 4.2mm when unfolded.

Despite its slim profile, the phone is built to last. The Armor FlexHinge has been redesigned to reduce creasing. The main display now includes a Titanium plate and 50% thicker Ultra-Thin Glass for better durability.

The phone is also IP48 rated, offering resistance to dust and water. The back panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the frame is made of Advanced Armor Aluminum, which is claimed to be 10% stronger than before.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 runs on Android 16 with One UI 8. The software includes several new AI-powered tools optimized for the foldable display.

  • Photo Assist lets users erase, move, or resize objects in photos.
  • Portrait Studio improves pet and portrait shots.
  • Generative Edit can remove unwanted objects or people.
  • Audio Eraser detects and removes background noise in videos.
  • Gemini Live supports multimodal AI and lets users ask questions based on what they see or do.

Other features include AI Results View, Drag & Drop for AI content, and creative tools like Drawing Assist and Writing Assist.

Samsung also introduced Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) and post-quantum cryptography support in Secure Wi-Fi for added privacy.

It has 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11 be (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with GLONASS, USB Type-C, and NFC connectivity options. The Galaxy Z Fold7 packs a 4400mAh battery, similar to the previous generation. It supports 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging at 4.5W.
