After weeks of leaks and speculations, Google has officially confirmed the Pixel 10 launch event for August 20. As expected, this will be a big hardware showcase, not just a phone reveal.
At the event, we are likely to see Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 4, possibly new Pixel Buds 2a, and a new wireless charger.
New Pixel phones will come with the new Tensor G5 chip. Previous versions of Tensor chips were made by Samsung but the Tensor G5 chip is being built by TSMC. So, we can expect better performance and better power efficiency. If you have used a Pixel before, you probably know overheating and battery drain were common issues. This chip could finally solve that.
Pixel 10 and 10 Pro are expected to get high-brightness AMOLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. Design should stay familiar but may get some refinements.
Leaks suggest Google is adding macro shooting to the telephoto lens. The base Pixel 10 may also get a triple-camera setup, which is a first. Google’s image processing is already great, so any hardware upgrade just makes it more powerful.
The new Pixel Watch 4 is expected to launch in two sizes and could bring design tweaks. Google may also introduce Pixel Buds 2a, an affordable version of their earbuds lineup.
All Pixel 10 phones will ship with Android 16 out of the box. Google is likely to continue its 7-year update promise.
Now it depends on pricing and how well they handle heat. In India, Pixel devices don’t feel value for money. That’s the reason people prefer buying Apple and Samsung devices. Let’s wait till August 20 to see what Google has to offer this year.
