Trump Mobile Is Coming: Trump Organization Enters Smartphone Business
NewsDesk June 17, 2025 Business, Telecom

The Trump Organization has announced a new venture in the mobile phone business. The company, run by Donald Trump’s sons, is launching a Trump-branded phone, Trump T1, and mobile service. The move is being seen as another way to profit from the former U.S. president’s name.

Trump T1 boasts a 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, Android 15, a 50MP main camera, and a 5000mAh battery. The phone includes both fingerprint and AI face unlock security. The phone will cost $499 and will come in a gold colour. It is being marketed as “built in the United States.” The phone is already available for pre-order.

The monthly service will cost $47.45, a clear reference to Trump being the 45th and 47th U.S. president. The plan offers unlimited talk, text, and data with no contracts or credit checks. You also get added perks like 24/7 roadside assistance, access to telehealth services, device protection, and free international calling to more than 100 countries.

The Trump Organization says the goal is to offer Americans a reliable phone service that reflects their values. It also promised “discounted” international calling options for families with military members posted abroad. The service will include U.S.-based customer support as well.

However, many experts and watchdogs are raising questions. Some say this could lead to more ethical concerns and conflicts of interest. Meghan Faulkner from CREW said this is just another way for Trump to profit while staying in politics. Others are asking whether customers might buy the phone, hoping to gain influence with Trump or his family.

There is also doubt about the “Made in America” claim. Experts say building a smartphone entirely in the U.S. is nearly impossible. A professor from Johns Hopkins even said they likely do not have a working prototype. He believes the phone will be assembled in the U.S. using parts imported from other countries.

The Trump Organization did not reveal who their business partner is or how the phone will actually be made. No details were shared on the technology, network, or software either.

This new phone business follows Trump’s older strategy of selling his name. Before entering politics, he made deals with hotels and golf clubs. Since becoming a political figure, that business has grown rapidly. He now makes millions from Trump-branded products like sneakers, perfumes, and even Bibles.

The U.S. mobile market is currently led by AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. All three offer phone plans starting under $40. Smaller companies also exist, offering cheap or niche services using the bigger networks. One example is Mint Mobile, which was backed by Ryan Reynolds and sold to T-Mobile for $1.35 billion in 2023.

Now, Trump Mobile is aiming to enter the same space. Whether it can compete or if it is just another branding deal remains to be seen.
