Minecraft is getting a big visual upgrade. Mojang Studios has confirmed that the Vibrant Visuals update will be released for the Bedrock Edition on June 17, 2025. This update brings several stunning graphical changes, but it will not change the way the game plays.
Mojang shared the news in a YouTube video posted on June 14. According to the developers, the goal was to make everything look better without losing Minecraft’s classic style. A.J. Fairfield, the lead rendering engineer, said they wanted the update to feel like a natural part of the game, not something completely new or unfamiliar.
One of the biggest changes is the new rendering system. It adds PBR (Physically Based Rendering), which lets textures reflect things like metalness, roughness, and glow. This means blocks and items can now have more realistic surfaces. Earlier, Minecraft textures were based only on color. Now, they can look much more detailed and life-like.
Different biomes also have new lighting and color tones. Hot areas now feel warm with more orange and yellow shades. Cooler areas look bluish. Some special locations, like the Pale Garden, include thick fog and glowing plants for an extra magical vibe. The water system has also been improved. It now includes better reflections and light patterns, making it look more natural. Developer Sam Hallam said they spent a lot of time perfecting how the water behaves and looks.
You do not need to install mods or do any complicated setups. If your device supports the update, Vibrant Visuals will be turned on automatically, and you can manage it from the settings.
For now, this update is only coming to Bedrock Edition. However, Mojang is working to bring similar features to the Java Edition in the future. Some features, like infinite clouds and fog, are already being tested in Java builds. Dejan Dimic, who leads the update team, said they want to build a strong foundation that the community can use and enjoy.
As Minecraft continues to grow, its world is expanding beyond just the game. Characters like Steve are appearing in other titles like Sonic Racing Crossworlds, and there is even a live-action Minecraft movie in development.
