Apple Unveils iPadOS 26: A Big Upgrade for iPad Users

iPadOS 26

At WWDC 25, Apple introduced iPadOS 26, its biggest update yet for the iPad. This new version brings many changes that make the iPad more powerful and easier to use. The design looks fresh and modern, with a material called Liquid Glass that adds a cool, clear effect. The new look makes the iPad more personal and enjoyable without losing the simple feel that users love.

One major change in iPadOS 26 is a brand new window system. Now, users can open more app windows, resize them easily, and place them exactly where they want on the screen. There is also a new way to see all open windows at once with a feature called Exposé. This makes switching between apps faster and smoother. The window system works well with Stage Manager and even supports external monitors.

The update also improves Apple Intelligence. It can now translate conversations live in Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls, helping people communicate in different languages without hassle. Users can create fun new emojis called Genmoji and use a tool called Image Playground to make unique pictures with the help of AI like ChatGPT. Shortcuts, which helps automate tasks, has gotten smarter too, letting users do more with less effort.

Managing files is easier with a new Files app. It shows details better, lets users customize folder icons and colors, and allows dragging folders right into the Dock for quick access. A brand new Preview app lets users view and edit PDFs and images using the Apple Pencil or touch. Filling out forms and marking up documents is simple and smooth.

For creators, iPadOS 26 adds new tools to handle audio and video. Users can pick different microphones for each app and get clearer sound with Voice Isolation. The update supports background tasks that keep working even when users switch to other apps, helping to finish long jobs without interruption. Local capture lets users record video calls with great quality directly on the iPad.

iPadOS 26 also brings new apps like Journal, which helps users write and capture everyday moments with drawings, photos, and audio. The Messages app gets new backgrounds, polls, and better group chat features. The Phone app now works on iPad, including features like Call Screening and Hold Assist.

Other useful updates include a new reed pen for calligraphy with Apple Pencil, 3D graphing in Calculator, and accessibility improvements for users with vision or reading difficulties.
