OnePlus has officially unveiled its next major innovation: OnePlus AI. It is a suite of intelligent tools and features designed to deliver a more personalized and seamless experience across its devices. The company describes it as “Intelligently Yours” and marks out a significant step in OnePlus’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its ecosystem.
OnePlus also introduced a new hardware button called the Plus Key, and a new AI experience known as AI Plus Mind, which is designed to reduce information overload and streamline everyday tasks.
Plus Key: Your Shortcut to Personalized AI
Taking inspiration from the iconic Alert Slider, the Plus Key is OnePlus’s latest hardware innovation, debuting on the upcoming OnePlus 13s. This customizable button allows users to perform a variety of functions, including:
- Switching sound profiles
- Launching the camera
- Starting real-time translations
- Initiating voice recordings
What makes the Plus Key more than just a shortcut button is its integration with AI Plus Mind, OnePlus’s new intelligent assistant that brings contextual understanding to user interactions.
AI Plus Mind: Organize, Understand, and Simplify Your Digital Life
AI Plus Mind is at the heart of the OnePlus AI experience. It is activated through the Plus Key or a simple three-finger swipe gesture. The feature allows users to save and organize important information from the screen, such as messages, bookings, events, or listings, into a dedicated Mind Space.
But this goes beyond basic clipping. The system uses AI to understand the context of the saved content. For instance, if you save a screenshot of a movie ticket or a text message with an appointment, AI Plus Mind can intelligently extract the event details and add them directly to your calendar.
Users can later retrieve this information using AI Search, which supports natural language queries, making it easier to locate specific items. OnePlus also confirmed that automatic sorting and organization will be added to AI Plus Mind by the end of the year.
New AI Features for Productivity, Creativity, and Communication
OnePlus is also working on a range of additional AI tools aimed at enhancing productivity, creativity, and user convenience. These include:
- AI VoiceScribe: Automatically records, transcribes, summarizes, and translates calls or meetings across various messaging and conferencing apps.
- AI Call Assistant: Exclusive to India, this feature will bring call summaries and real-time translation to the default Phone app on the OnePlus 13s.
- AI Translation: Combines text, voice, screen, and camera-based translation into one unified app.
- AI Search: Goes beyond file names by enabling conversational searches across notes, settings, files, and calendars, integrated seamlessly with AI Plus Mind.
- AI Reframe: Analyzes your photos and suggests creative cropping and framing options for better composition.
- AI Best Face 2.0: Coming via OTA in summer 2025, this feature improves group photos by fixing closed eyes or poor expressions and works with up to 20 faces, even from photos taken on other devices.
Deep Integration with Google Gemini
OnePlus AI will also leverage Google Gemini, Google’s conversational AI platform, for a deeper and more cohesive experience. Gemini will be integrated into apps like Notes and Clock, enabling features like context-aware assistance and screen-based AI interactions.
With Gemini Live, users will be able to have real-time conversations about what their phone’s camera sees or what is displayed on the screen, making AI not just reactive, but proactively useful.
Privacy and Security: Built from the Ground Up
OnePlus has developed its Private Computing Cloud (PCC) framework to recognize the importance of data privacy in AI. For most tasks, AI processing happens locally on the device. When cloud processing is required, PCC ensures that data remains encrypted and protected using a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), which secures the entire data journey from the device to the cloud servers.
The company says this focus on security will allow it to deliver “deeply personalized and secure AI experiences” that feel natural and respectful of user privacy.
Availability
The AI Plus Mind feature will debut on the OnePlus 13s starting June 5, 2025. A software update will follow for other OnePlus 13 Series devices, with OnePlus confirming that support for more models will roll out over time.
