Nothing has officially introduced its latest midrange smartphones, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. The new series builds upon last year’s Phone (2a) lineup while introducing a Pro variant for the first time. These devices come with Nothing’s signature transparent design and promise enhanced photography and powerful AI features.
The Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro retain the brand’s signature transparent back design and Glyph Interface. While the standard Phone (3a) has a pill-shaped camera module, the Phone (3a) Pro sports a slightly larger housing to accommodate its periscope lens. One of the standout additions is the Essential Button, located on the bottom right side. This button can be programmed to capture and send content to Essential Space, record a voice note instantly, and save content quickly.
Both phones feature a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The display is protected by Panda Glass for offering durability against scratches and drops.
Nothing Phone (3a) series packs Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC, which is a capable mid-range chipset designed for efficient performance and AI-driven enhancements. These phones also have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Phone (3a) series runs Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15 and promises 3 years of major OS updates and 6 years of security patches.
Nothing has taken a big leap in photography with the TrueLens Engine 3.0, an AI-powered system that improves tone mapping and scene detection for lifelike photos. The Ultra XDR technology, co-developed with Google, ensures an HDR-like dynamic range.
Nothing Phone (3a) Pro has 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope lens for optical zoom, and 8MP ultra-wide sensor. On the other hand, Phone (3a) ditches the periscope lens for a telephoto sensor. It has a 50MP primary sensor, 50MP telephoto sensor, and 8an MP ultra-wide sensor. Nothing Phone (3a) Pro has 50MP selfie camera,a and Nothing Phone (3a) comes with 32MP selfie camera.
These devices also have Dual stereo speakers for immersive audio. The IP64 rating is also there for dust and water resistance. Connectivity options are 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC.
Both devices pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging. Nothing also claims that these phones can maintain over 90% of their maximum capacity after 1,200 charging cycles. However, the lack of wireless charging in the Pro model could be a disappointment for a few.
