During Sony’s latest State of Play event, Gearbox confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be officially released on September 23, 2025. The game was initially announced at Gamescom 2024, and we also saw gameplay debut at The Game Awards.
Borderlands 3 was released in 2019. Since the successor is launching after a six-year gap, expectations for the new game are high. Borderlands 4 will feature the series’ signature shoot-and-loot gameplay but with enhanced movement mechanics. Players will be able to double jump, dodge, and grapple, which makes traversal smoother and combat more dynamic. The game also introduces four brand-new Vault Hunters, each with their abilities.
Borderlands 4 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. More details, including gameplay footage and new features, will be revealed in the upcoming State of Play showcase later this year.
