POCO C75 5G First Impressions

POCO C75 5G

POCO today launched its entry-level smartphone POCO C75 5G. The phone seems to offer quite good specs for the price. I also got the device to review. I have been using this device for a while now and while I’m not ready to give a full review just yet, I wanted to share my initial thoughts and experiences with you.

What’s in the Box?

  • The POCO C75 5G phone
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Charging adapter
  • SIM ejector pin
  • User guide

Before I get into it, I want to point out something important: this phone seems similar to Redmi A4 5G. It has a similar design and specs.

Now let’s talk about the design of the POCO C75 5G. The POCO C75 5G feels solid and comfortable in the hand. While the build is made of plastic, it feels well-constructed and looks good. The device features flat edges, which gives it a sleek and modern appearance. On the right side, you will find the volume rockers and the power button, which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. On the left side, there’s a SIM tray that holds two SIM cards and a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

The bottom edge of the phone houses the USB-C charging port and the speaker grille, while the top edge includes the 3.5mm headphone jack—a much-appreciated feature for those who still prefer wired headphones.

The phone has 8.22mm thickness and weighs 204 grams. It also has a large display putting the phone on a larger side.

The POCO C75 5G comes with a 6.88-inch HD+ LCD display. So, you get a large screen for watching movies, browsing social media, or playing games. The 120Hz refresh rate also offers a smooth experience. While the bezels around the screen are a bit chunky, particularly at the chin. It should not be a major issue for a phone in this price segment.

The display also features a waterdrop notch at the top where the 5MP front camera is housed. The notch doesn’t intrude too much on the display, and it fits well with the overall design.

Moving to the back, the POCO C75 5G has a dual-camera setup housed in a large circular module. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor and there’s a secondary auxiliary camera to help with depth sensing and other basic functions. The rear panel has a rock-like texture, which looks good. However, the design of the back is subjective—some people will love the texture, while others might not. The 50MP camera branding is also clearly visible next to the lens.

POCO C75 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. This combination is typical for an entry-level device and should perform well for basic tasks such as browsing, messaging, and light gaming. In terms of day-to-day usage, you shouldn’t face any major hiccups. The phone runs smoothly with normal apps, and the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 provides acceptable performance for low-end gaming as well.

You also get 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via the microSD card slot.

Here’s an important detail to keep in mind: The POCO C75 5G only supports 5G Stand-Alone (SA) networks. This means the phone will not work with 5G NSA networks such as the one provided by Airtel. If you are using Jio, however, you won’t face any issues, as Jio operates on a 5G SA network. So, if you plan to buy this phone and you are an Airtel user, you may face limited compatibility with their 5G network.

The POCO C75 5G comes with a 5000mAh battery, which should easily last you through a full day of usage or more, depending on your screen-on time and tasks. The phone supports 18W fast charging, but here’s the catch: you only get a 10W charger included in the box. So, if you want to make full use of the fast charging capabilities, you will need to purchase a compatible 18W charger separately.

First Impressions: A Great Budget Device with a Few Trade-offs

So, what do I think about the POCO C75 5G based on my first impressions?

  • The design and build are solid, and while it may not feel super-premium, it’s a sturdy device.
  • The 6.88-inch display is perfect for media consumption, though the chunky bezels may not be for everyone.
  • You get a 50MP dual-camera setup, which seems good for the price, but don’t expect flagship-level photography.
  • The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 provides decent performance for everyday tasks and light gaming.
  • The 5000mAh battery should easily last through the day, and fast charging is available, though you’ll need a separate charger for it.

There’s one thing about 5G connectivity: it only supports 5G SA. So make sure your network provider is compatible.

This has been my first impressions of the POCO C75 5G. Soon, I will publish the full review of POCO C75 5G with details about performance, gaming capabilities, camera quality, and battery life.
