Instagram DMs get Location Sharing

Instagram is rolling out a series of updates to make DMs more useful. It has added a few stickers and a live location-sharing feature.

The most notable feature of this update is live location sharing in DMs. Users can now share the live location for up to one hour. They can also Pin a spot on the map to coordinate arrival times or find each other in busy places like concerts. These features will make Coordinating meetups easier.

By default, live location sharing is off. One can share Live Locations only privately via DMs. TO remind users that they are sharing location, there will be a visible indicator and users can stop location at any time.

To help users express themselves better, Instagram is introducing 17 new sticker packs featuring over 300 fresh stickers. Users can now favorite stickers from their chats. So, they can easily reuse stickers shared by friends or those you have created using cutouts.

Instagram now lets users add nicknames for themselves and friends in DMs. This personalization option adds. Fun element in chants. Nicknames are exclusive to DMs and won’t affect usernames elsewhere on the platform. Users have full control over their nicknames and can decide who can update them in a chat.

To set a nickname, simply tap on the chat name at the top of your conversation, then navigate to Nicknames and choose the friend you’d like to add a nickname for. By default, this is limited to mutual followers, but you can adjust the settings to allow only yourself to make changes.
