Larian Studios has today announced the upcoming Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3. This update will bring some of the most requested features to the popular RPG. Patch 8 brings features like cross-play, photo mode, and 12 new subclasses.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting cross-platform progression and cross-play to make teaming up with friends easier than ever. For the first time, Baldur’s Gate 3 players across PC, PS5, Mac, and Xbox can seamlessly join forces. You will be able to invite others to a cross-play lobby directly and find multiplayer games across platforms via the Larian Network.
The highly anticipated photo mode is also coming. It allows players to capture moments in the game. This feature offers players an array of camera, lens, and scene settings to give creative control over the visuals. You can also a personal touch to your photos by using effects, frames, and stickers.
New Sub Classes
Patch 8 introduces 12 new subclasses, one for each existing class. These additions bring unique abilities, animations, and role-playing options to further enrich your journey. These subclasses will be available to players as they level up their characters.
- Bard – College of Glamour: This subclass empowers Bards with the ability to captivate their enemies, turning them into allies or rendering them helpless.
- Barbarian – Path of Giants: Channel the raw power of giants, growing in size and strength to become a formidable force on the battlefield.
- Cleric – Death Domain: Embrace the dark side of faith, harnessing the power of death to inflict pain and suffering upon your foes.
- Druid – Circle of Stars: Connect with the celestial bodies, drawing upon their cosmic energy to cast powerful spells and summon celestial allies.
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown: Uphold the ideals of justice and honor, wielding the power of the divine to protect the innocent and punish the wicked.
- Fighter – Arcane Archer: Master the art of archery and magic, unleashing devastating attacks from afar.
- Monk – Drunken Master: Embrace the chaotic and unpredictable style of the drunken master, using alcohol as a catalyst for powerful martial arts techniques.
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper: Command swarms of insects to overwhelm your enemies, delivering a barrage of attacks from all directions.
- Rogue – Arcane Trickster: A master of stealth and deception, this subclass combines the finesse of a rogue with the arcane power of a wizard.
- Sorcerer – Draconic Bloodline: Harness the power of ancient dragons, granting you elemental abilities and draconic features.
- Warlock – The Hexblade: Forge a pact with a powerful entity from the Shadowfell, gaining abilities that enhance your martial prowess and spellcasting.
- Wizard – School of Divination: Predict the future, manipulate fate, and gain insight into the secrets of the universe.
Patch 8 also focuses on improving game performance, especially on lower-end systems. So, players an expect smoother gameplay and reduced loading times. A significant number of bugs and glitches have also been fixed to ensure a more stable and enjoyable gaming experience
Larian Studios is inviting players to help fine-tune Patch 8 through a community stress test in early January. Players who are eager to try out these new features before the official release can join the test
