Amazon has confirmed that Prime Video will introduce limited ads in India starting in 2025. The company has already done the same in the U.S., Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K. a few months back. Along with India, ads are also coming to Brazil, Japan, the Netherlands, and New Zealand next year.
Primer Membership pricing will remain the same. Existing memberships will receive ad-supported content. An ad-free option will be available for people who want a completely ad-free experience, but pricing for that will be confirmed later.

All the Prime members will be notified via email about this change several weeks before ads are introduced. The email will also have information about how to sign up for the ad-free option if they want.
“We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers,” said the company in a statement. “We will also offer a new ad-free option and will share the price of that option at a later date. We’re not making changes in 2025 to the current price of Prime membership.”
With this move, the company aims to boost revenue to continue investing in content. Amazon also promises to show fewer ads than TV and other streaming TV platforms.
Prime membership in India costs Rs. 1499 per year. Prime Lite members already see ads, so their subscription has no change.
