Qualcomm has today launched its first eight-core Snapdragon X Plus SoC for Copilot+ PCs at the IFA 2024. It is worth noting that the company launched the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus earlier this year. The Snapdragon X Plus 8-core is designed to bring prices of Copilot+ PCs down to $700 to $900 price range.
Snapdragon X Plus features an 8-core Qualcomm Oryon CPU and is built on the same 4nm process node. The platform uses a custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU that promises to deliver lightning-fast responsiveness. Snapdragon X Plus 8-core maintains its performance leadership in thin and light PCs with 61% faster CPU performance compared to competitors.

Qualcomm claims that competitor platforms require 179% more power to achieve peak performance as compared to Snapdragon X Plus 8-core.
Qualcomm also shared its internal benchmarks for the new eight-core chips. It is capable of reaching roughly 80 percent of the performance as the 12-core chips in the CPU. It has a 30MB Total Cache. One should also note that it has half the GPU power. It means 50% worse graphics performance. The SoC also includes 45 TOPS NPU for on-device AI experiences.
Here’s a list of all SKUs.

The octa-core Snapdragon X Plus will bring the prices of laptops further down. Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung will announce their Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon X Plus 8-Core today starting at USD 799. I will keep reporting all the latest developments.
