Amazon recently held the 8th edition of Prime Day Sale on July 20-21. As per the company, it was the largest Prime Day event ever in India with remarkable sales figures and more achievements.
Amazon claims that Prime Day 2024 saw a 24% increase in Prime members shopping compared to Prime Day 2023. Prime members placed 24,196 orders per minute which sets a new record for peak orders during Prime Day. Consumers also purchased more items than in any previous Prime Day event.
The company also achieved the highest number of same-day deliveries for Prime members, mainly in metro areas. It also managed to deliver orders in under two days in tier-2 cities.
The sale also featured thousands of new product launches from over 450 brands. Most brands saw significant traction. More than 70% of orders for smartphones came from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Home entertainment products saw a 26% growth in sales led by brands like Sony and Samsung. Laptops, headphones, and computer accessories saw a 20% increase in sales.
Amazon Pay ICICI bank credit card also saw a 50% surge in usage as compared to the previous year’s Prime Day sale. Consumers also booked flights, hotels, and homestays more than ever.
Prime Day 2024 also wrote success stories for several SMBs across India. More than 65% of SMBs received a sale from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. They also saw over 30% growth compared to last year.
