Qualcomm today announced Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 mobile platform. The chip promises 15% CPU improvements and 45% GPU improvements as compared to Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is built on the 4nm process. It has a prime Cortex-X4 core clocked at 2.8 GHz, 4 performance cores running at 2.6 GHz, and 3 efficiency cores clocked at 1.9 GHz.
The chip has upgraded Adreno GPU promising 45% improvement over the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. It also supports Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, Snapdragon Game Post Processing Accelerator, HDR gaming, and Snapdragon Shadow Denoiser. It supports OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3.
It also has up to 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
The SoC also has Hexagon NPU to run on-device AI models. The platform also supports a wide range of AI models including Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Gemini Nano.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports up to 36 MP triple camera, up to 64+36 MP dual camera, up to 108 MP single camera with ZSL, and up to 200MP single camera. It includes a Qualcomm Spectra Image Sensor Processor. The SoC supports up to 10-bit color depth photo and video capture and 4K HDR Video Capture.
The chip supports up to 4K @ 60 Hz and QHD+ @ 120 Hz. It also has variable refresh rate support for 240 Hz to 1 Hz.
It also has a Snapdragon X63 5G modem with FastConnect 7800 and 3GPP Release 17 5G. Qualcomm promises download link over NR is up to 4.2 Gbps.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports USB Version 3.1 Gen 2; USB Type-C, and UFS 4.0. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology.
Qualcomm has also confirmed that several brands including OnePlus, realme and SHARP will announce their devices soon. The SoC should debut in OnePlus Ace 3V that will be launched in China today.
