Asus just introduced its latest gaming smartphone ROG Phone 8 at CES 2024. The series includes ROG Phone 8, Phone 8 Pro, and Phone 8 Pro Edition. These three phones are almost the same and have only different RAM storage. This year, Asus has focused on putting a good camera in the gaming phone.

This new gaming phone comes with a premium design and durability. It has a higher body and thinner bezels than its predecessor. The phone has unique customizable elements including the Aura RGB Lighting logo and Anime Vision Mini-LED 341-element display. Asus ROG Phone 8 is available in Phantom Black and Rebel Grey. ROG Phone 8 Pro and Pro Edition are available only in Phantom Black. ROG Phone 8 has RGB backlit ROG logo on the back. The Pro models feature a small OLED display on their backs. This display can show preset or user-created animations. ROG Phone 8 is also the world’s first IP68-compliant gaming smartphone.

ROG Phone 8 features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ 1-120Hz LTPO Samsung E6 AMOLED 10-bit display but up to 2500 nits brightness and HDR support. The display panel also has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

The phone packs Octa Core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 4nm SoC and Adreno 750 GPU. It comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. ROG Phone 8 has 12 GB RAM and 256GB Storage. Phone 8 Pro comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The Phone 8 Pro edition offers 24GB RAM and 1 TB storage.

It has a Rapid-Cooling Conductor design that conducts heat directly from the processor to the back cover. It also has an all-new AeroActive Cooler X clip-on cooler that is now 29% smaller but promises 1.2X higher thermal efficiency. It boasts to reduce the back cover temperature by as much as 26°C.

ROG Phone 8 runs ROG UI based on Android 14. It features Background Mode that can effortlessly shift a game to the background. The X Capture feature can capture key moments. X Sense can provide tips and assistance when needed. Al Grabber can now also grab text from games using Machine-Learning Recognition technology. It also has several A features in Gallery, Launcher, and Settings for improved user experience.

The phone also has an impressive camera setup. It has a 50 megapixels primary camera with 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 3.0, a 13 megapixels ultrawide camera, and a 32-megapixel 3X telephoto camera with built-in OIS. For selfies, the phone has a 32 megapixels ultrawide selfie camera with an RGBW sensor and a 90° field of view.

ROG Phone 8 has 5-magnet stereo speakers, Dirac Virtuo for Headphone Spatial Sound, and Tri-microphones with ASUS Noise Reduction Technology. So, it promises a good audio and experience.

Connectivity options are 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11 be, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, Galileo(E1+E5a), QZSS(L1+L5), NavIC(L5), USB Type-C, and NFC. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

ROG Phone 8 packs a dual-cell 5,500mAh battery with support for 65W HyperCharge fast charging. It can fully charge the phone in 39 minutes. The phone also supports 15W Qi wireless charging.

ROG Phone 8 is priced at USD 1099.99 for a 16GB + 256GB model. The ROG Phone 8 Pro costs $1199.99 for 16GB + 512GB, and the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition costs $1499.99 24GB + 1TB model. The AeroActive Cooler X is priced at $99.99.

ROG Phone 8 will roll out starting in the Spring of 2024.
