In a recent update, WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app, has introduced a groundbreaking feature: Pinned Messages. This new functionality allows users to highlight specific messages in both individual and group chat. You can use this feature to highlight an important message at the top of the conversation.

To use this feature, users can simply long-press on a conversation and select the “Pin” option from the menu. Once pinned, a message can remain at the top of the chat for a customizable duration. You can pin a message from 24 hours to seven days, with a maximum pinning period of 30 days. The default duration is set at seven days. Users can unpin messages at any time.

All types of content, including text messages, files, emojis, pictures, polls, or videos, can be pinned. This makes the feature even more interesting. In group chats, administrators have the authority to decide whether pinning messages is allowed a select participants or available to all participants.

This feature follows a series of recent updates by WhatsApp including the introduction of the View Once option for voice messages. It allows users to send audio messages that disappear after being listened to and multiple accounts support on Android. Additionally, WhatsApp is working on enabling users to share high-definition images and videos in their status updates and considering an optional feature for sharing WhatsApp statuses directly to Instagram.
