Google is reportedly set to roll out a battery health indicator similar to what we found on iOS devices. This upcoming battery health indicator will give users a comprehensive view of their device’s battery performance.

Several third-party Android apps claim to provide battery health data, but there’s one big issue in these apps. These third-party apps can only start data collection after installation. If the app wasn’t installed in the initial days, it can’t provide accurate results.

Android operating system begins collecting battery-related data from the first boot. So, it can provide accurate information about battery cycles and battery health.

The latest Pixel Feature Drop for December 2023 added a new “Battery Information” page. It displays the date of manufacture and the battery cycle count but fails to provide information about the battery’s health. However, the upcoming Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 is expected to bring a dedicated ‘Battery Health’ page. Additionally, the Settings app may proactively offer users tips when their battery capacity begins to degrade.

The report also suggests that Android could soon display whether the original battery has been replaced or not. This information will help in getting a better understanding of the device’s battery history.

The iPhone owners have been enjoying battery health feature for a long time, so that’s a pretty basic feature for them. Finally, Android owners could also get access to the feature. Battery health feature helps identify battery-related issues and tells when it is time to replace the battery.
