At Meta’s Connect event, the company confirmed that AI image editing and sticker-creation features will be added to Instagram soon. The company unveiled Instagram’s upcoming AI tools Restyle and Backdrop.

Restyle is the generative AI filter that lets users remix their existing photos into different looks. For example type “watercolor” in the prompt and see the new look and feel of the image.

Backdrop is an AI-powered green screen feature where users can type prompts to create a new version of the image with a background of their choice.

Instagram is also getting an AI stickers feature that lets users generate customized stickers for stories and chats. The feature uses Llama 2 and Emu. It will turn text prompts into multiple unique, and high-quality stickers. AI Stickers are now being rolled out to select English-language users over the next month in WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook Stories.
